IMF drops $20.8 million to the New Direction Government

GOVERNMENT OF SIERRA LEONE MINISTRY OF FINANCE PRESS RELEASE The International Monetary Fund Approves Sierra Leone's Economic Performance Under the Extended Credit Facility Programme on 5th June 2023 The Ministry of Finance. in collaboration with the Bank of Sierra Leone and the National Revenue Authority, wish to inform the general public that the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund has, on 5" June  2023, approved the Economic Performance Programme of the Government of Sierra Leone, which will trigger immediate disbursement of about US$20.8 million. In Port loko district, a Slpp parliamentary candidate has  engaged the  Apc  in two chiefdoms

In the entire North West region of the Country, it now appears that the Slpp has engaged the Apc everywhere. In some cases,the Slpp has succeeded and gained foothold and in other cases, the Apc has successfully pushed back the Slpp. This back and forth drama  is now unfolding all over the North west region -which many have seen as the Slpp's overall strategy to play the Apc, what football experts describe as, half field.  This ugly development for Apc has made them to be stuck in their backyard and trying to fend off the Slpp. In context,the Apc has not been able to take the fight to the Slpp- in reality ,the Apc is playing a defensive match..
Port loko is one of the districts in the North West region where there are currently campaign engagements between the Slpp and the Apc. In some areas in the district, these two parties are unbelievably battling for supremacy. 
A  *Madam Mariatu Sesay* who says she is running for parliament under the Slpp ticket has joined her party to make a push in certain corridors in  the district.  Prior to her declaration for parliament, reports say she has been bringing in a number of development projects to her people. Her previous development moves have led to a necessary political environment in which research has shown that she has successfully engaged the Apc in her chiefdom of origin and the adjacent chiefdom. A continuation of her development programs has led her to score a number of successes to the extent that hundreds are now declaring for the Slpp in both chiefdoms.
Considered as an  eloquent speaker, Madam Mariatu Sesay has made a fine case to the people and her messages are resonating.
She has stationed in that area, bringing in more resources and putting the Apc under relentless bombardment. 
With the PR system, and the 30% quota for women ,coupled with the  significant amount of votes Slpp may capture in Port loko district, many now believe that  Madam Mariatu Sesay will make it to parliament.

A scammer from Sierra Leone has been captured by Guinean police.

  The person in the picture is actually Abdulai Jalloh, despite the fact that he is identified as a lecturer from Njala University under the name of Dr. Kanu. In early January of this year, he posted in a WhatsApp group in Kambia that he had scholarship chances and could help people acquire government pin codes, among other things, but that the offer was only valid for those from the South and east.   Someone sent him NLe1,500 for overseas study without realizing he was a scammer.  The scammer claimed that the entire application process for the scholarship cost 3,000 New Leone.  Later, the contacted person realized that he was not who he had been representing himself to be, and he immediately blocked the victim of his syndicate.  He once more perpetrated the same crime against Molai, another individual, and someone else.  In the pretense of an international scholarship, he demanded 3000 New Leones from each person.
