IMF drops $20.8 million to the New Direction Government

GOVERNMENT OF SIERRA LEONE MINISTRY OF FINANCE PRESS RELEASE The International Monetary Fund Approves Sierra Leone's Economic Performance Under the Extended Credit Facility Programme on 5th June 2023 The Ministry of Finance. in collaboration with the Bank of Sierra Leone and the National Revenue Authority, wish to inform the general public that the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund has, on 5" June  2023, approved the Economic Performance Programme of the Government of Sierra Leone, which will trigger immediate disbursement of about US$20.8 million. It is worth noting that the global economy is currently facing challenges occasioned by unprecedented overlapping multiple crises severely impacting all countries' economic fabric. PRESS RELEASE
The public is hereby reminded that distribution of voter registration cards which commenced on Friday 7th April will end on Sunday 16th April 2023. All 3,630 centres nationwide will continue to remain open from 7am to 5pm daily until 16th April
2023. 
The Commission is encouraging members of the public to make use of the remaining two days to collect their voter registration cards. At the end of the ten days scheduled for the distribution of voter registration cards, uncollected voter cards can only be collected at the ECSL district offices in the district headquarter towns starting Monday 24th April 2023.

The Commission wishes to assure the public of its commitment to conducting a
credible and transparent elections.

If you recall, in the year 2022, Dr. John Idriss Lahai, a whistle-blower who exposed a phony degree, attracted the attention of every patriotic Sierra Leonean. His activity came to light after it was found that numerous Sierra Leoneans had received honorary PhDs from a Waterloo, Western Rural District postsecondary institution that was not accredited. Even well-known Sierra Leoneans, including the previous Inspector General of Police, were given honorary PhDs by the university known as Dominion University. When it was determined that the aforementioned university lacks the integrity to grant such a credential, the IG subsequently declined the offer. A scammer from Sierra Leone has been captured by Guinean police.

  The person in the picture is actually Abdulai Jalloh, despite the fact that he is identified as a lecturer from Njala University under the name of Dr. Kanu. In early January of this year, he posted in a WhatsApp group in Kambia that he had scholarship chances and could help people acquire government pin codes, among other things, but that the offer was only valid for those from the South and east.   Someone sent him NLe1,500 for overseas study without realizing he was a scammer.  The scammer claimed that the entire application process for the scholarship cost 3,000 New Leone.  Later, the contacted person realized that he was not who he had been representing himself to be, and he immediately blocked the victim of his syndicate.  He once more perpetrated the same crime against Molai, another individual, and someone else.  In the pretense of an international scholarship, he demanded 3000 New Leones from each person.
