SLPP and NGC form a Progressive Alliance for Transformational Development in Sierra Leone
Consistent with the vision of H.E. President Julius Maada Bio to promote inclusive governance and national cohesion, the leadership of the SLPP and NGC held several consultations to discuss how the two parties could form an alliance to promote transformative and inclusive development in the country. In view of this, both parties obtained permissions from their respective National Executive Councils to explore the formation of strategic alliances to advance the laudable goals of the Government. Following several meetings between representatives from both parties, we have resolved to work together to promote inclusive governance and national development.
Therefore, both parties are pleased to announce the formation of an alliance to promote and work towards the above stated ideals. In that regard, we have agreed to pull resources together to ensure the victory of President Julius Maada Bio in the June 24, 2023 presidential elections and the candidates of our respective parties at both the local council and parliamentary elections. On that note, both parties will support each other to maintain their respective identities while at the same time working towards moving the country on the path of sustainable development. At the policy level, both parties will continue to engage effectively and coordinate on various national issues including designing a common governance platform and campaign messages drawn from our respective manifestos to building a peaceful democratic state and society in Sierra Leone.
A framework agreement outlining the form and ideals of the Alliance will be officially signed and launched at a special ceremony on the 23rd April, 2023.
