ALIE KABBA VISITS DISPUTED YENGA
Alie Kabba, radical progressive nationalist, met with Guinean military personnel engaged in an illegal incursion and occupation of Sierra Leonean territory around Yenga, Kissi Teng Chiefdom, Kailahun District.
He also held fruitful discussions with local stakeholders in the Yenga community regarding the impact of the illegal Guinean military border incursion on the social, economic and security fabric of the area.
Alie Kabba told the Guinean military personnel in Yenga that their actions are a gross violation of the spirit of friendly relations between Sierra Leone and Guinea.
"It is in our common interest to avoid a military crisis along our common borders and pursue diplomatic channels to reslove all disputes," he told them in impeccable French.
He reiterated that President Julius Maada Bio has always reached out to his Guinean counterparts to express his concerns about incursions into Sierra Leonean territory.
He informed them that President Bio sent a letter to former President Alpha Conde in 2019 regarding border disputes and how to achieve lasting solutions, which Alie Kabba delivered in Conakry when he served as Minister of Foreign Minister and International Cooperation.
President Bio should, if not already done, send a strongly-worded message of concern to his brother and friend Président Mamady Doumbouya.
President Bio should also ensure that visible security architecture is deployed with a fierce sense of urgency and adequate resources. The conduct of peaceful and credible elections in June will be badly dented if many voters in Kissi Teng, Kissi Kama and Kissi Tongi chiefdoms are disenfranchised because of the *Fear Factor* to vote in peace and security.
