Turkish Ambassador Pays Follow-up visit to IGP on PIKM Regulation By Kembay Police Headquarters George Street Freetown, Wednesday 28th February, 2024 Her Excellency the Turkish Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Madam Sibel Erkan has visited the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. William Fayia Sellu to know the SLP stands on the Police Coordination and Cooperation Center (PIKM), ahead of the 5-6 May and 15-17 July, 2024 OIC meetings in Banju and Yaounde respectively.  In her presentations, Her Excellency Madam Erkan discloses that, her visit was to know if the SLP is interested in being part of the Police Coordination and Cooperation Center (PIKM) establishment following the 13th Summit  heads of States and Government of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). First Lady Fatima Maada Bio now has a serious position under the UN Secretary General.

 


The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Jabbie Maada Bio, who has won numerous national and international awards, has been appointed by the UN Secretary General to a significant position in the UN. 

Dear Mrs. Maada Bio,

In accordance with the United Nations General Assembly resolution on Zero

Waste (77/161) of 22 December 2022, it is with great pleasure that I appoint you as

a member of the Advisory Board of Eminent Persons on Zero Waste. The Board has

an important role to play in supporting zero-waste initiatives in the context of sustainable development. As a Board member, I trust that I can count on your knowledge, experience, expertise and commitment to promote zero-waste initiatives.

Given that the concept of "zero waste" is gaining attention worldwide as a

sustainable solution to reduce waste, redesign material use and production, promote a circular economy, and inform consumer choices, it is my hope that the multi-partner and multidisciplinary, regionally and gender balanced Board will work to publicize best practices and success stories and raise awareness to promote local and national zero-waste initiatives. The Terms of Reference of the Board are enclosed.

As convenor of the Advisory Board, I look forward to the work you will undertake with fellow Board Members to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and I have asked the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to work closely with you. Focal points from these organizations will contact you soon about the onboarding process as well as with details for the first meeting of the Board in September 2023, in New York.

I welcome you once again to the Advisory Board on Zero Waste and trust that

you will continue to be a champion on our journey to reach the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, and to raise awareness and promote practices leading to progress towards a sustainable and prosperous future for people and planet.

The two leaders discussed service delivery across their respective governments and agreed to collaborate in ways that will improve public services through digitalization. HE Taliah also expressed interest in supporting Sierra Leone in reforming the public sector and in the digitisation of Sierra Leone’s Justice sector. Those Unimpressive Words From the Outgone US Ambassador, David Reimer. By Kembay Sierra Leoneans and other non citizens residents in Sierra Leone were shocked over a statements made by the ousted United States of America Ambassador, David Reimer in a local Radio broadcast on Thursday 17th August, 2023. The ousted US Ambassador statements which all listeners viewed as adding insult to injury came at a time the country is still grappling with it political and economic stalemate just after the June 24 2023 general elections.  Ambassador Reimer statements in that broadcast exposed him of putting personal sentiments above diplomatic protocols in adherence to sovereignty.  Where in the world has Reimer seeing the opposition accepting defeat or has he forgotten that as we speak, Donald Trump is yet to accept the victory of Joe Biden in the 2020 US elections over allegations of irregularities?
